ABOUT.

I'm Anneloes Leijssen, a strategist and storyteller, working at the intersection of advocacy, social impact and art. From building awareness, generating momentum, shaping policy  to collaborating across sectors.

I’ve been living and working in Southeast Asia for the past eight years, partnering with organizations across the fields of culture, art, government, and sustainability.

I believe in clear messaging, thoughtful collaboration, and the role of culture as a catalyst for connection and change.

Working across cultures has taught me that diverse perspectives are a strength that leads to better ideas and more meaningful outcomes. Empathy and humanity are central to how I approach my work.

I am the co-founder of two large initiatives; Open Studios Penang, Malaysia’s largest open studios art event, and Lean In Penang, a community-driven platform helping women to achieve their ambitions.

I hold a Bachelor's in Communication Sciences and a Master's in Popular Culture and Media Entertainment from the University of Amsterdam. To deepen my perspective on media, gender, and cultural narratives, I specialized in converging media, and women in media at the University of Copenhagen.

I explored how stories shape perception, identity, and influence in today’s world.
